Gartner: Worldwide SaaS Revenue will Grow 22 Percent in 2009

In a newly published report Gartner predicts that the market for business software sold as Software as a Service will grow steadily during the next couple of years. Appart from a general growth in the SaaS market, the current financial climate has made companies more sensitive to costs and this makes SaaS appear as an attractive alternative to the more "cumbersome" traditional types of business software.

The possibility of renting your software is especially interesting as it reduces the initial investment significantly and makes it possible to reap the advantages of newly bought software faster than with traditional solutions. The Software as a Service model has matured and is now a serious alternative to traditional installed software. Gartner predicts significant growth in the SaaS market until 2013.
