TimeLog K-Bar introduces a faster, more efficient way to find information and take action across TimeLog. Built to streamline daily work, it provides instant access to key data and enables create or open actions from a single, unified interface. 

Centralized search and navigation

The K-Bar serves as a consolidated entry point to locate customers, projects, employees, reports, and more. It delivers immediate results and reduces clicks, making movement across the system simpler and faster. The new K-Bar supports typo tolerance, semantic search, and intent recognition, helping surface relevant information even when queries are incomplete or imprecise.

Actionable commands

Tasks can be initiated directly from search. Quick Actions allow creation of new customers, projects, contacts, or employees without leaving the panel. Available actions are shown based on permissions and appear contextually alongside results.

By centralizing navigation and reducing manual steps, the K-Bar supports more efficient task handling and helps maintain focus while working across modules.

Access and shortcuts

K-Bar opens via the search icon in the menu bar or with Ctrl + K (Windows) / ⌘ + K (Mac). Results can be navigated with arrow keys, and Enter opens the selected item. Quick Actions enable on-the-spot creation, so no extra navigation is required. 

Why we call it the K-Bar

We chose K-Bar for two simple reasons:

• K is the shortcut. It opens with Ctrl + K (Windows) / ⌘ + K (Mac), matching the muscle memory many people already use to bring up a command palette.
• K is for Knowledge. It brings the knowledge you need (customers, projects, reports, etc) into one place.

And “Bar”? It’s a familiar, lightweight place you go to type, find, and do. We didn’t call it a search bar because it goes further: K-Bar understands intent, launches actions, and can create records without breaking your flow. Think of it as your command palette and knowledge launcher in TimeLog.

The name is intentionally open to interpretation. If K makes you think Keyboard, Knowledge, Kickstart, or Keep moving, go with it! The point is the same: open K-Bar anywhere, type what you need, and get it done.

Availability
